This past year we've continued to support our students and their families in unexpected ways, grateful to be a part of something of value through transition after transition. And now we are back, in person, cooking up student requests together and eager to start sharing our stories again with you.
Student Success Story: Dan
Our student story this month is about a student I'll call Dan. Like many Ida B. Wells students, Dan had to navigate a lot of truly uncomfortable situations that made him avoid school, more than the isolation and depression that is a part of many of our students' lives. Our class made Dan feel a part of something tangible and worthwhile, enough so that Dan advocated for himself to continue in our class, even when he didn't need the credit. Another reminder that cooking, eating and serving together provides much more than the food on the table for everyone.
