Debbie Guardado began her culinary career interning and later working at Mission Pie where she created curriculum and formalized training for transitional-aged youth, and formerly homeless, incarcerated, or disabled adults. She quickly fell in love with the work of preparing individuals to enter the workforce as it was her way of combatting the barriers to employment.
In 2014, Debbie saw the opportunity to bring her own culinary journey to students at Ida B Wells, many of whom faced similar barriers to social mobility. She continues to provide opportunities for young people to develop transferable work skills, access to industry partnerships, and have the confidence to dream big and work to achieve their life goals. |
