It is great to have our class back to pre-pandemic numbers with 16 students!
In January, this group began ‘very green’ but through their own curiosity and dedication, have been able to consistently create menus that challenge and excite.
Our students contribute many ingredient and menu ideas, creating a new and cohesive theme every week. The first week we came together around shrimp Alfredo, the second we all were inspired by Carne Asada Tacos, pivoting into the third week with forming Dumplings & Egg Rolls.
Weekly reflections improve our focused setting and it is inspiring to see students reaching their own personal goals so quickly and with dedication to learning in HotK.
Students are also teaching us lessons. One that stands out is from Cam who was able to encourage during a busy moment:
“We need to make sure to take time and not rush so that we can taste
the love.”

Breakfast Club Internship Update
Our first breakfast club cohort are completing their internships and we are inspired by their progress:
With Johnny’s consistent efforts, he has become a sauce and jam aficionado that many chefs would envy.
JJG completed her resume to confidently attend a recent job fair.
Kimberly has been accepted into a CNS internship and will explore the world of nursing this summer!
And that is not all - our school is seeing increased attendance on the days serviced by our Breakfast Club Interns which makes everyone look forward to our next cohort.
